Girls and Shoes

What is it about shoes that girls so obsess with?

The color? The style? The way it matches the dress?

Is it an in-built thing or God placed it in the DNA? It should be the DNA, having double X makes them look at shoes differently than the boys.

My elder daughter has more shoes at any one time than I ever had in 3 years.

And now she need another pair to be the Flower-Girl this Saturday.

At the same time, she also tried other shoes, just to see it looks nice or not.

This pair of legs belongs to her younger sister, Ally. Seeing her big sister try new shoes, she too grabbed a pair to try.

Ally's feet

We thought this should be nice for her gown, but found that the quality wasn't so good.

Ally started to try 2 different shoes at the same time.

In the end, this was the best choice but...

that's right... don't have her size. The display set fits her but the strap is broken.

Ally still trying more shoes dispite the wrong size and wrong side.

Isabel likes this but it was too informal.

Ally's feet.

But in the end, after trying so many, we didn't buy any.

Md-lIfe Crises?

In Proverb, It is said that: Midlife is the old age of youth and the youth of old age. Some say that it is the second chance of becoming the person that we are meant to be (Second Adulthood).

Midlife is a normal developmental life stage.

In life we have two major identity crisis. The first, occurring in adolescence, is to establish an identity. You must get a sense of who you are. The second identity crisis is at midlife when you must give up who you think you are so you can become who you were meant to be.

I'm not sure if I'm going through Midlife, but I know I have some changes in my life that somehow scares but assures me of who I'm becoming.

Significant changes is my view with health, I started to be conscious...
Just the other day, I was telling my lovely wife that I want to start going on regular check-ups. I may be only 35, but rather not wait till 40s to start checking on my organs.

I used to drown myself with fizzy drinks, finishing a bottle of 1.5L coke by myself in just a couple of days. Can you imagine that amount of sugar in those drinks? But now I drink plain water only. I also cut down on red meat and curry gravy.

***

My taste in art and movie have changed. I no longer got the stomach to watch horror and blood gore movies, especially zombie movies which used to be my favorite. I also can't stand slapstick jokers like Jackie Chan.

Instead, I prefer movies that shows humanity and character like "Pursuit of Happyness" and "Babel", something that has real stories and real acting in it.

***

Career? I don't want to be working for a younger boss, I want to be sure that I'm the boss. So I'm taking up courses to upgrade my qualifications, maybe finish with a MBA. That aside, I have the fear of being stuck in the same job for too long and by the time I'm 40, no body wants to hire me. Switching jobs will be virtually impossible...

But most importantly, I want to make sure I earn more than enough for my family.

***

So... Am I going through midlife crisis? I don't know... I may even say I don't care... cos I think I like what I'm becoming.

Project "Welcome Mommy" II

As some of you have known, my lovely wife was away in New Zealand for a period of 2 months. Well, she is finally back home.
The girls were excited and so am I. I couldn't sleep the night before, keep imagining the look on her face when she steps out of the baggage claim and sees us.

2 hours before the landing time, I started to get the girls ready to welcome their Mommy, I thought I should have time for dinner at the airport before going to the arrival hall. But because the girls took too long to get ready, we have to settle for a quick bite at MacDonald's.At precisely the landing time, we were already waiting at the appropriate gate, trying to spot Mommy.

When she finally came out, Isabel and Ally flashed out their welcome banner. A product which they did most of the messing and I have to turn them into art work.

My wife came out smiling, hugged everyone and was very touched by the gesture, she love the banner.

I had no time to buy flowers, otherwise it would have been better.

My little Dancer

Isabel participated in the Graduation Concert for the older Kindergarten 2 children. For weeks she and her class has been practicing their dance in school. At first, I didn't know she was doing it, until I noticed she was singing and dancing the same song at home until it started to get on my nerves.

On the day itself, she was very excited, chasing after me and hurrying me all the time making sure that she won't be late. Although her god-mother did her make up, her teachers touched up and dolled her up some more.

Even while queuing up, she till practicing her dance moves

She's very happy to be performing.

Maybe I'm bias, but I'm her father, so of course I'm bias... I think she is the best dancer and the prettiest one among all the other children.

After her performance, I waited for her by the side, to be the first to tell her how well she did. She smiled from ear to ear, I know it means a lot to her.

I so proud of her.

Project "Welcome Mommy"

As the date for Mommy to return from New Zealand draws near, we started work on the banner as promised to their Mommy.

It must be big and bright so that she can see from the moment she steps into the baggage hall.

The kids are free to express themselves on it. They painted grass, flowers, clouds, sun...

Mixing colors together, they learned to form more colors

Soon they were trying hand prints and foot prints
The place was a big mess, my poor maid got to clean up real good.

The final product is not yet complete, but I hope she likes whatever she sees.

Isabel's 5th Birthday

Its Isabel's 5 year old Birthday!!!

And altogether she had coincidentally 5 celebrations!!!

Her first celebration started on the Saturday before her actual day. Friend of my lovely wife, who loves Isabel very much, decided to celebrate it with her own grand-daughter, who's birthday is also in October.
First wave of celebration. She wasn't really ready as she wasn't expecting it.

Her second time celebration was in Grandma's place. She was expecting it, so she asked to have her hair combed and wear a nice dress.

Third was in her god-mother's place on the day before.

Her god-mother giving her blessing.

Her 4th time celebration was on the actual day in her school. I can see that was the happiest celebration she ever had.

When the children sing the birthday song, it was so crisp and clear. There was really a sense of joy in every word that comes from the children's mouth. I have heard adults sing more than hundreds of times, but none can compare the simple joy added in it when it's sung from the children. It was simply beautiful.

Her good friend Si Qi drew a card for her.

Ally was so popular among the children, they surrounded her, pinching her cheeks, stroking her hair, holding her hands. When she walks, the boys will remove chairs that are obstructing her. She's like a big living doll that everybody wants.

Isabel is so glad to have her sister there with her.

Ally cried when I brought her home, she wanted to stay in school with her sister.

The final celebration was in the cell group. The cake was baked by our member, Daniel Ang, who does that for every member's birthday.

All-in-all, 5 celebrations, 5 cakes. Out of which, 4 are chocolate, 1 strawberry.

Happy birthday Isabel.

Since I took over...

I've always never find it amusing to be doing gardening, but since my lovely wife is in New Zealand for almost 2 months... I've taken over the watering and fertilizing of the plants that's along our corridor.

Since then, I've watched the flowers blossomed and sprout forth fruits, which is the obvious result of my work.

I began to do more... I began to prune the dead leaves and branches to make way for new ones. I started to feel the joy of watching the fruits ripen, waiting to taste the first fruit.

Even Isabel started to take interest, she has asked when can she plant her own plant. I promised to get some red bean for her to plant, let her experience taking care of it and watching them grow.

Let's Go Camping

To my Lovely Wife:

Well, the kids said they want to go camping, so... I built them a camp lor.

Yes, your blanket is now their tentage...

Ally: "Jie Jie, I hungry...!"

Isable: "Ok, I cook something for you."

Isabel: "Come inside, here, have a plastic hamburger

Ally: "OK..."

Ally: "Jie Jie, I help you wash."

I don't know if they like to go for a real camping trip. For one, Ally don't like to get dirty, if there's sand in her shoe, she'll demand to remove it, clean her feet then put it back on again before walking.

Isabel is not much better than her sister.

I think it'll be a few more years before I'll actually do it.
